(7/16/2021) Day Eight at Grace Baptist Church Internship
Day eight at the internship at Grace Baptist Church was three hours, which is from 9:44 am to 1:10 pm. Daniel wanted me to sketch out three ideas that show someone using binoculars to search for a cross representing Exploring Christianity. I made two sketches ideas of one large sketch of someone searching and a small sketch. Daniel then told me to stop drawing and help him set up the lights and camera for Akin Omisanmi's weekly devotional video called "The Desire to be Great". I helped adjust the camera and recorded Akin while Daniel held up his iPad for Akin to read the script. We had to record three times because the other two times had a glare in his glasses and the head was cut off. After finishing the video, I created one more sketch idea that had crosses in the man's binoculars. Daniel then had me trace the photo of the largest sketch on Procreate on a square layout with a digital pen on a separate layer but this time with replacing the eyes in the lens with crosses. I selected a black calligraphy monoline brush type to trace the photo and then deleted the photo but kept the traced version. I made the background green and used different brush styles to make the light green clouds, the dark and light green grass, and blackbirds. In another layer, I made the man's clothing light brown and the hat's band red. I made his binoculars a grey color, the cross a gold color, and the lens a light blue color. I made the man's skin tan and made his hair a brownish orange. I even made his belt yellow and grey as well. I added shadow areas all over the man's body and binoculars with dark brown, dark grey, dark sky blue, and dark red colors. After completing the artwork, he told me he was going on vacation to Flordia from the 17th to the 22nd and wanted me to think about what kind of Autism Speaks social media artwork he can post for Autism Awareness next year. I stopped for day eight with three hours and twenty-eight minutes, with a total of twenty-three hours and forty-five minutes.
